Mary Beth Greenwood’s freelance photography career began over two decades ago, when cowboys were still “cosmic” and the Armadillo was world headquarters for many of Austin’s soon to be famous musicians. The national recognition achieved by Austin alumni (Christopher Cross, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Eric Johnson, Joe Ely, and ZZ Top) has now started to arrive for this professional whose photography has chronicled much of their careers since those early days.
Mary Beth’s photographs have appeared in numerous national publications, including the cover of Guitar Player Magazine. Her cover photo of guitarist Eric Johnson prompted Art Director/Photo Editor Peggy Shea to write, “I feel confident that this cover will be one of our more handsome examples in the recent past due to the high level of professionalism in the transparencies we received.” Her work later appeared in such publications as Billboard, Musician Magazine, Bass Player Magazine, Studio/Engineer/Producer, Marshall Magazine, Circus, Fender’s 2006 catalog, and more. She also freelanced for top music companies such as Warner Bros., A&M, Columbia, Lone Wolf, just to name a few.
While Ms. Greenwood’s archives include several rare, one-of-a-kind shots of artists, the breadth of her work extends beyond the scope of the music industry. Her portfolios have helped establish acting and modeling careers for former Olympic diver Tina Tollan, 2007 Abercrombie & Fitch “New Face” Joshua Slack, magazine model Kara Sands (Vanity Fair, Elle, Cosmo, Seventeen, Abercrombie & Fitch, Time, Prada, Gucci, Christian Dior), and actress/model Zoe Keller (“Monk”, “Without A Trace”, “Spy Kids 2”, “Undercover Kids”, “Zoe 101”, Visa/Starbucks, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen catalog).
Her clients for promotional work range from businesses such as Anne Kelso Salon, software corporation Journee, executive coaching firm Momentum, Envie Boutique, law firms Dale Matthews as well as Slack & Davis, Ester’s Follies, Giada Rocco, to national powerhouses such as Boston Piano, TV Guide, MTV, and VH-1. As a journalist, Ms. Greenwood is a regular contributor of articles and photography for local magazines Austin Wide Open and Natural Effects.
She has been focusing on photography as it applies to advertising and working with artist Darren Minke to produce unique, creative collaborations for Creative Ink. Her years of experience in business give her access to a broad client base to which she can apply her talents in sales, journalism and photography.
